Nan Tucker McEvoy Auditorium, Smithsonian American Art Museum
October 8, Friday, 9am - 5pm & October 9, Saturday, 9am - 5pm

During the first annual AMERICAN CRAFT WEEK, a ground breaking, two-day interactive conference, Crafting a Nation, will be held at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.

Crafting a Nation will explore how craft practitioners, both professional and self-taught, are a valuable national resource, running businesses and producing wonderful products unique to our nation and important in our lives. The conversation format allows for participation from the general public as well as those who make, collect and study handcrafted objects. The participants will be surrounded by craft objects, grounding the audience in the essence of craft.  The artists and scholars taking part in the programs will be available to speak with the public.

Mark will serve on a panel titled "Schools, Guilds and Apprenticeships", at 1:30pm on Friday August 8th.

The Conference is FREE and open to the public.
